Wickhambrook Horticultural Society Reports

April & May 2010

Our monthly meeting in April was another talk given by Mr Peter Beale - the fourth time he has visited our Society. Mr Beale’s slides are always lovely to look at and lots of them must have used lots and lots of time and patience. His butterflies and birds do not seem to close their wings or fly away just as you press the shutter like mine always do!! Animals and birds all require different environments and foods and plants to flourish and Mr Beale knows all about this through his work in conservation and his enthusiastic interest in the natural world.

On the 17th May the Society held their annual Coffee Evening and Bring and Buy. Lots of plants appeared as if by magic thanks to the efforts of members and friends. Unfortunately, due to various things like illness and holidays the numbers attending were well down but we still had a very pleasant evening and most of the plants went to new homes. Thanks to everyone who provided plants and helped out on the night.

Members Information

Our Annual Membership is 5, with meetings costing 1 to members and 2 to non-members. We would love to see some new members and you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome.

Subscriptions are payable to the Treasurer each January.

Our talks usually last for about an hour and then we have a chat with other members whilst enjoying tea/coffee and biscuits. The talks cover a range of different aspects of gardening and our programme is planned to provide something of interest to each and everyone of us.
