Wickhambrook Horticultural Society Reports

On Saturday 3rd July it was Flower Show Day - a week earlier than previous Shows at the request of the organisers of the Wickhambrook Show.  I did worry about the early date this year, particularly with the long, cold Spring and the dry, burning heat that then arrived.

I had visions of no vegetables, fruit or flowers and that the tables would be bare!!  I need not have worried, the Show was excellent, and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone who entered - the children who excelled themselves, the vegetable, fruit and flower growers, the wonderful flower arrangements, the wonderful cooks who produced their exhibits and the clever handicraft people who knitted, crocheted, painted, etc. etc.

We really did have some beautiful exhibits and it was a delight to look around the hall.  We have some talented people living in and around Wickhambrook and thank you, once again, one and all for sharing your talents with everyone.

The local primary school put on a display of their work which, as usual, was extremely good.  I cannot remember making or studying the kinds of items that the youngsters study now and many thanks to the teachers, helpers and of course to all the children for putting on such an interesting and entertaining exhibition.
