September saw a meeting with a difference when Chris Clark, an expert on stage, film and T.V. make-up, gave a demonstration. She transformed several members with her artistry and the results were astonishing. A witch, geisha girl, Marie Antoinette, lion and two very gory accident cases. Just as well there were a few nurses present that evening.
The annual Group Meeting was held in Newmarket on the 20th. This is a good chance to meet the other six institutes in the Gallops Group, Barrow, Cowlinge, Dalham & Gazeley, Horringer & Ickworth and Newmarket and hear what they have being doing during the year.
Members took over the running of the October meeting and welcomed everyone to a Hallowe'en event with soup, a magnificent cake, themed quiz and traditional games - a very entertaining, social evening. Five members are going to the Autumn Council Meeting at the Corn Exchange, the speaker being, John Amis of 'My Music' fame. This month also sees an evening meal at the Rede Plough, the Walking Club's Wednesday morning walks and the Reading Group meet on the last Monday. Quiz Night October 16th, unfortunately this had to be postponed until the Spring.
