After a busy week of events in the village, ending with the Carnival and Flower Show, the ladies of Wickhambrook W I were very happy to sit back and enjoy a talk called ‘Down with Drudgery’ at their July meeting. Trevor Anderson’s talk and slides illustrated how science in general, and chemistry in particular, have transformed our lives since the 1950s. He had some thought provoking ideas on how we will make plastic if/when oil runs out, and urged us to persuade our children and grandchildren to make science their career.
