Wickhambrook Womens Institute Reports

May 2007

As part of their 80th Birthday celebrations, twenty-six members of Wickhambrook WI enjoyed a meal at Bedford Lodge Hotel in Newmarket. We love our Hall, but it was a treat to meet in such beautiful surroundings and enjoy the delicious food. Travelling by coach meant that wine was enjoyed by all and there was much laughter and fun on this happy occasion.

The May meeting was a Recipe Tasting of Picnic Food, so after discussion of this year’s Resolution for the National AGM ( the closure of Community Hospitals) we had a lovely selection of treats to taste. Salmon en croute, Tomato Pesto Tart, Nutty Nibbles, Barm Brack, Spanish Tortillas and Ginger Crunch were voted winners for summer eating.

Next month’s meeting will be on Tuesday 12th June and will take place at Lackford Lakes Reserve. A walk around the lake, or birdwatching from the Visitor Centre and hides will be followed by our usual WI business.

Please be at the MSC Car Park at 6.30 when we will travel in convoy to Lackford.

Coming Soon!!!
Another Yoga class is planned for Wickhambrook, starting in September. For two years, Chrissie Bond of Lilypond Yoga has been running a class on Friday mornings in the WI Hall at 9.30am. This was organised by the WI, but it is for everyone, members or not. We have several members from nearby villages, men as well as women. Chrissie's class is very popular and suitable for all levels of expertise. Her motto is 'Be kind! You can always be kind' and we have all flourished and improved in this atmosphere. We do not have a time/date for the new class, but it will be in the daytime. If you would like to join in with either of the classes, please contact Chrissie on lilypondyoga@live.co.uk or Dorothy on dorothya@btopenworld.com or phone 01440 820376. There will be posters up on the noticeboard shortly.
