The Neighbourhood Watch Scheme within Wickhambrook has various co-ordinators throughout the village who try to raise awareness of the scheme and keep "an eye out" for anything that looks suspicious and needs reporting.
Come along to the next community priority setting meeting for the neighbourhood being held Wednesday 14th June 2012, 7.00 pm (until approximately 9.00 pm) and have your say to help influence local policing priorities where you live. Chat to your local officers and partner agencies face-to-face, raise any concerns you may have and hear what's being done to keep your community safe

For a scheme to run all it needs is a co-ordinator. That is one person (plus a deputy if available) who simply keeps a small amount of neighbours informed of any issues that may currently affect them or their property. We generally receive our information via email and most Co-ordinators ask their members to provide them with an email address so that they can get updates quickly.
The more people we can get involved, the greater the voice it gives us as a community in voicing our concerns with the Police and we in return can expect a good amount of information and feedback that our village is being well policed.
We aim to keep you informed of the latest "happenings" in and around the village. If you know of a crime or can report something to us quickly it will be circulated to members and may even be placed on the website - our aim is to prevent us or our neighbours falling victim to a crime that may have been prevented just from knowing some information. The system works and we have assisted with solving and preventing crimes in our area - simply by passing information on - nothing else!
If you have any concerns about anything suspicious, security issues or any other aspect related to the Neighbourhood Watch then your co-ordinator is there to help you, however, they do not replace you reporting an incident yourself.
Window stickers are also available which tell any criminals that we are a community that cares and are looking out for each other. If you would like a sticker then please contact us.
The scheme was reformed in October 2005 and we currently have schemes in the following locations:
Ashfield Green
Attleton Green (set up but currently vacant)
Bunters Road
Cloak Lane
Clopton Park (set up but currently vacant)
Coltsfoot Green
Croft Close
The Duddery
Mill Lane (currently vacant - needs a Co-ordinator)
Moor Green Close
Park Gate
Shop Hill
Thorns Close (set up but currently vacant)
Boyden Close (set up but currently vacant)
These schemes have a Co-ordinator and in some cases a Deputy. The Co-ordinators will have informed you if you are covered in their scheme and provided contact details. Members of schemes often receive a small discount on their House Insurance with certain companies (see this link for more info). We provide a newsletter and information when relevant.
We have 1 meeting a year where we discuss all business. Most Co-ordinators attend but it is not compulsory. We run a telephone contact scheme between ourselves should anything urgent arise, otherwise keep each other informed of any events and information.
If you would like to set up a scheme in your area you only need to cover a small number of houses. We would prefer small schemes as they are easier to manage. There is very little to do other than pass on information from time to time. Packs are available containing general information about the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. If you would like more details then please contact either Diane Townsend or Wickhambrook Neighbourhood Watch.
