JUNE
On lovely warm bright evening members gathered to go in car convoy to Lackford Lakes for their June Meeting. There was time to wander around looking across the Lakes at the wildlife, while using the many available hides using binoculars to see things up even closer. We were rewarded with sightings of Cootes ,Moorhens and Eider’s all with ducklings, Cormorants, Herons and Mount Jack Deer. We had refreshments provided at the Education centre, where we held a short business meeting before leaving in the twilight. An excellent visit enjoyed by all.
AUGUST
It was raining and cold but all was warm and dry for our August meeting when Pip Wright spoke to us about Suffolk Witches. An excellent speaker he regaled with all kinds of tales and truths from times past. Very much enjoyed by all.
An excellent total of £145 had been raised at a recently held coffee morning in aid of the Mulwana Kalanzi Project, which is aiming to bring clean water to five villages in rural Uganda.
JULY
The Speaker at the July meeting was Joanna Metcalfe who gave a very interesting talk on Alternative Therapies. Because of severe illness when she was young, Jo became interested in acupuncture, aromatherapy, hypnotherapy and Reiki and now practices all of these to help others. She answered questions and gave a demonstration of Reiki which members found fascinating. Jo is opening a centre for Alternative Therapies in Nowton Park and members wished her well in her new enterprise.
The WI Hall was buzzing on Flower Show and Family Fun Day. Tea and cake were served throughout the day and many compliments were received from customers.
Thanks to everyone who supported us on Flower show and Family Fun Day. We had lots of people in enjoying our teas and all the funds raised will go towards the maintenance of the W.I.Hall. September 11th
