A Co-Production of the
Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds
and the
Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond

It is Announced that Mr John Buckstone's Renowned Company of Actors
will perform
Mr Morton's Celebrated and Laughable Farce
BOX AND COX
To which will be added a Variety of Entertainments

One of the most popular farces of the nineteenth century, John Maddison Morton's Box and Cox is a hilarious tale of cohabitation and coincidence in Victorian London.  It tells the story of two strangers, Mr Box and Mr Cox, who share a bedsit run by the indomitable Mrs Bouncer.  Only they don't know it yet, because one works the night shift, the other the day.  And they're about to find out they've a lot more in common besides bedspreads and bolsters...

With Box and Cox forming the centrepiece of a delicious concoction of entertainments, including comic songs, dramatic interludes and several humorous diversions, Mr Buckstone's stout-hearted company of actors will,
for your delight and delectation, recreate a typical nineteenth century evening
at the theatre.

"It is some time since we have seen so comical a piece as Box and Cox…
and we rarely recollect one that so completely carried the audience with it"
Illustrated London News, November 1847
