SERIOUS WARNING CONCERNING DISTRACTION BURGLARS
There have been numerous distraction attempted burglaries in the western
area these past few weeks. A white male with a non-Suffolk accent
knocks on doors saying he has to turn the water off/ request to flush
the toilet/ from the water board etc. While the householder shows
him where to go, an accomplice enters the house and takes anything
of value. They are believed to be using a Green Rover car registration
M344 WPU or N505YOJ. There have been differing descriptions of the
offenders but are believed to be between the ages of 18 and early
20s, one with dark hair and slim another with light brown hair. Any

BURGLARIES
- The Police have asked us to be especially vigilant as burglars
have attacked a number of houses in local villages over the
last couple of weeks. The attacks have usually happened during the
afternoon, early evening in the latter part of the week. Please be
extra vigilant and make sure you lock all doors and windows and have
a lamp timer. Anyone who sees anything suspicious should contact the

Wednesday
15th December 2004 there was an aggravated burglary at The
Greyhound Public House, Wickhambrook at 1.30am. Police are
looking for two young males, 5'8 tall and thinly built, wearing balaclavas
and dark clothing plus a possible vehicle which may have been nearby.

Thursday
15th July 2004 there was a distraction burglary which took
place in Cavendish by two white males in their 30's. One was 6' tall
and good looking with dark hair. They both took off in a light coloured
vehicle towards Cavendish village. Please be vigililant.

Tuesday
22nd June 2004 there will be a Community Partnership Awards
evening held at the Corn Exchange, Bury St Edmunds in recognition
of the partnership work across the western area of Suffolk. There
will be a light buffet between 6 - 7pm followed by the awards which
will probably finish around 9pm. Representatives from the Home Office
and the Chief Constable of Suffolk will be giving the keynote speeches.
The tickets are FREE and will be allocated on a first come first served

There
has been an increase in the number of crimes in the area of theft
from buildings, farms, sheds, garages and vehicle crimes. Please be
on the lookout for any suspicious persons or vehicles particularly
overnight and during the early hours of the morning. A white transit
van has been seen on a number of occasions near the scene of the crimes
and any vans of transit size or over acting suspiciously is worth
investigation. Typical items being stolen are quad bikes, trailers

A
Distraction Burglary took place at Great Welnethon on Tuesday 20th
January. At between 9 - 9.15pm an elderly lady heard a
noise at the window. The window was being tapped and the person
asked for the door to be opened. One person was waving a large amount
of money which she thought he wanted to give to her. The first person
walked in while the second entered through the window, took her
handbag and both left through the front door. They are described
as two white males, 5' 9" tall in their late 20's, short dark
hair and wearing dark clothing, possibly black anoraks and trousers.
Please look out for elderly residents in your area.
