"D" provides childcare for the children of Wickhambrook and the surrounding area
OFSTED Registered
Diane Haywood has been a registered childminder since 1996 and offers a friendly and caring atmosphere for children of many ages. Indeed many of the children that are with her now, have been cared for since a very young age up until they are in their middle years. Before Diane was a childminder, she was a playschool supervisor and so has many years of experience with children.

Diane, or "D" as she is known by the children and many locals is registered with OFSTED and has yearly inspections. She looks after children in her own home which gives provides a homely environment for them to be away from their parents. Flexibility is the name of the game and Diane will fit in with what arrangements are required provided they do not clash with children that she is already caring for.
OFSTED Registered
Diane is registered to look after:-
Any children over the age of 8 plus ...
six children under 8 years of age
three children under 5 years of age
one of the children under 5 can be under 1 year old

D is very flexible and her typical days of the week are varied ...

children are dropped off at 8am and D walks or drives them up to the local primary school at 9ish or takes them to a nursery. On various days and times during the week, D looks after an 18 month and 1 year old. Some children are picked up from nursery and stay until they are collected to go home. Children come to D before and after school until their parents are free to pick them up. Some children are over 8 years old and many of these have been looked after by D since they were very young. Not only are the parents happy - but the children insist on coming back! Children who are looked after are also welcome during the holiday periods and D is happy to take on other children during these times but has to add the proviso that the times will need to fit into her previous commitments to children already registered.

D loves to spend time with the children and to see them play games which they find fun and which are also learning games ...
Some of the older girls are currently being taught cross-stitch and have their own 'patches' that they are making. The children will never be 'bored' or lost for something to do when they are with D. A vast assortment of toys to appeal to all ages can be found. Prams and garages for the young, lego for all (including adults), books (which D often reads with/to the children), sewing, glueing and sticking. During holiday periods more involved activities are organised, e.g. painting, etc.

About D generally ...
The children are welcomed into a safe environment with all the games and facilities they could wish for. D is happy to provide meals or some children have a packed lunch sent with them. D has cared for children as young as three weeks old - in fact she is now seven years old and is still care for by D. There is a sun lounge specifically for the children as another play area. This leads out onto the garden which is safe and enclosed and mainly lawn. The children often play outside in the summer and D has some 'unique' entertainment which all the children enjoy (involves the science of cornflour!). There are also outside toys and a sand pit.
