Badminton
Club |
This club meets on a Wednesday at the MSC
and consists of a group of friends who have got together to play
badminton once a week. Although there are currently enough players
to make up the group if you would like further information, they can
be contacted by going along to the MSC on one of their club nights. |
|
Body
Rock |
Body Rock
Dance was formed in 1991, and has grown in size and strength.
Classes are held in Ballet, Modern, Tap and Drama for children from
the age of 3 years. Please come along and see what we do, everyone
is welcome. |
|
Bowls
Club |
The Members of the
Wickhambrook Outdoor Bowls Club play
in various Club and League Competitions. The team is a friendly mix
of bowlers made up of locals and players from other villages and so
everyone is made welcome. Anyone interested can come along for a practice
bowl or coaching session where you can just bowl and enjoy yourself
- we hope you will enjoy the company so much you want to join us. |
|
Carpet
Bowls |
We offer a very warm welcome to new members from Wickhambrook
and the neighbouring villages. The game is easy to learn and fun to
play. Find out more about Wickhambrook
Carpet Bowls. You will find yourself among friends, and
will enjoy great companionship. |
|
Daycentre |
You couldn't ask for a friendlier welcome at our Daycentre.
There is currently only a couple of gentlemen and so they would be
delighted for new male members to make up their numbers - they are
out numbered by the women so come and help them out! Likewise, we
need to keep the women numbers up if more men join and so come and
join in. The morning goes very quickly and you can have some good
company, enjoy a raffle in a nice warm atmosphere. Lunch is included
and it is all homemade. A small selection of the varied menus which
are enjoyed is shown on their web page. |
|
Football
Club |
Wickhambrook
Football Club has two teams, the First Team which plays
in the Cambridgeshire League and The Reserve Team in the Halstead
& District Football League - both of which have enjoyed successes.
If you would like to know more about the Football Club, are interested
in joining either as a supporter, helper or player, then we would
be pleased to hear from you. Please visit our page to find out more
about the teams and our match results. |

Horticultural
Society |
The Wickhambrook
Horticultural Society was formed in 1889 and is one of
the oldest Societies in Wickhambrook. It is a thriving and vibrant
Society. It holds regular monthly meetings with interesting speakers
covering a wide spectrum of garden related subjects. So why not join
us – new members are always welcome! |
|
Local
History Society |
The Wickhambrook
Local History Society meetings are held in the WI Hall
on the third Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. We have around 50 members
who enjoy talks, often illustrated by slides, on topics of local and
historical interest. We have at least two summer outings each year
and a social evening in December. Members also attend events and meetings
held by the Suffolk Local History Council to which we are affiliated. |
|
Petanque
Club |
The Wickhambrook Petanque
Club has enjoyed success in the past having played in
the first division of the Newmarket league for 10 years and winning
the plate in 2003. They play on a Monday night and need at least 4
people to make up a team but 8 is ideal. Unfortunately, there are
not enough players to register in the 2004 league. This club desperately
needs players to keep going and is in danger of folding. They have
their own pitch at The
Greyhound who can be contacted should you be interested
in making up the team. |
|
Royal
British Legion |
If you are an ex-Service man or woman or have an interest
in the Services, you may like to know that we have a Branch of the
RBL locally: The Wickhambrook and District Branch.
Sadly, as the majority of the membership at present is made-up of
those who served in the 1939/45 or during the time of the conscription
post-war, there is an urgent need for younger members who have served
since then. Please find out more about the Royal
British Legion. |
|
Snooker
Club |
This club would welcome more members. Snooker can be
played most of the day when the MSC is not being used which is currently
only on a Thursday during the morning. There are two tables and games
are played by putting money into the meter which turns on the lights
above the tables. The meter lasts about 15 minutes and costs 50p.
To join the club the annual subscription is £6.00 and further
details can be obtained from Gladys Alexander on 01440 820698. Looking
for someone to have a friendly game with - click here for more details. |

Tennis
Club |
Wickhambrook
Tennis Club has around 50 members, who play for pleasure,
exercise, and/or competition, in some cases all three! Our membership
includes a wide range of abilities and ages. We compete in the Norfolk
& Suffolk League, entering Men’s and Mixed teams and also
offer professional coaching for juniors. You can be serious –
but it’s not compulsory. New Members always welcome |
|

the theatre. There are many ways in which you can join in. There is
something for everyone - you don't have to act if you don't want to.

Wic-Kids
Youth Club |
Our Youth Club WIC-KIDS
has recently started up again having received a grant for new equipment
and staff to look after the children. The kids have so much fun and
there are currently approximately 20 members. Diane, Sally and Roz
would welcome not only new children for the group, but anyone who
feels they would like to help out. What better job could you ask for
- you play games all evening and act as an extra set of eyes and ears.
Come along and have some fun. |
|
Women's
Institute |
The Wickhambrook W.I.
has a long history which they would be delighted for you to become
part of. They have members of all ages and offer an interesting and
varied calendar of events. The W.I. Hall is one of the very few left
in the country which is still owned solely by the W.I. and good use
is made of it by the village. A warm welcome awaits anyone who would
like to join. |
