The Greyhound or Skinny Dog Pub as it is known to locals can be found at Meeting Green and is run by friendly landlord and landlady Stuart and Averil who have worked hard towards creating a warm and friendly atmosphere which is welcoming for all including families. There is a lounge which has french doors opening onto the enclosed garden play area with a new "tree house" so that parents can easily keep an eye on the children. Children are made most welcome and a bouncy castle is provided on every Bank Holiday.

They have held receptions for weddings, funerals and children's parties and are more than happy to be flexible in their approach. There is a kitchen available for use, either by the people holding the party or outside caterers. Averil will also provide a selection of food, if required that can be previously arranged.

Karaoke nights - from 9pm. All welcome to join in the fun - visit our website for more information on this and other events we have planned for 2006

Do you need any work done? If so, come and bid on your favourite slave. All proceeds going to St Nicholas Hospice, Bury St Edmunds
The Greyhound has plenty of car parking space together with an adjoining field which is used for parking during the summer when they are busy. The pub is well known in the bikers community and during the summer, generally on a Tuesday night, motorcyclists from near and far converge on the pub for their regular gatherings where they have a chat and something to eat. The field has also been used for camping and barbeques and is open for hire should anyone wish to hold a car boot sale or other functions. There is also a conference room available which has been used for wedding receptions. There is also a main bar which has a pool table, darts and a juke box.

Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes are very popular and often the pub stays open during the day. Laughter is in plenty as the customers, young and old, enjoy the company provided by Stuart and Averil. With its live bands, discos and karaoke nights at weekends, it serves a very useful function in providing entertainment. If you're feeling peckish they serve traditional pub grub. The week day lunchtimes are also popular with locals meeting up every day to play crib or dominoes and enjoy the company. Weekday evenings are often supported by the local clubs which have their after match drinks and sandwiches in the company of The Greyhound. The Wickhambrook Players can often be found propping up the bar after a hard evening's rehearsals. The Tennis Club and Bowls Club are after match regulars enjoying sandwiches, sausages and chips and a beverage or two. The Petanque Club also frequent The Greyhound having their petanque pitch in the garden area.

Stuart and Averil are keen to be involved with local events. The Greyhound was involved in fundraising within the village having supported the Teen Project during 2003 by holding a sponsored car wash in their large car park and are looking forward to becoming involved with other fundraising in future years. If you would like to hold an event at The Greyhound, Stuart and Averil would be pleased to hear from you and will help support it in any way they can. Further details can be found by visiting their website.

The Greyhound is very much a part of Wickhambrook's history and community of today. A short history of the pub can be read along with the other pubs in the village. The Greyhound is set on one of our 11 greens, Meeting Green and Wickhambrook's stream runs through the Greyhound land.

Petanque Club
The Greyhound would like to help the Petanque Club keep going as they have enjoyed great success in the past but now their numbers have dwindled and they need new members. If you are interested then please visit the Petanque Club page for more information.

Quiz Team
Would anyone like to join or set up and run a quiz team? If you are interested then please contact Stuart and Averil who would be happy to support it.
