It was a privilege for the History Society to welcome Caroline Holmes to their January meeting.Caroline is a garden designer and historian as well as a broadcaster but she took time out of her busy schedule to speak on ‘Dig for Victory and the Festival of Britain’.
Several members could remember visiting the Festival and there was time to reminisce as well as to look at slides of London parks with vegetables growing in them for the War effort.
Next month’s meeting sees the return of Stewart Bowell another very popular speaker. His subject is ‘From Earthworks to Pillboxes’.
More information is available from Gillian (820052) or Dorothy (820376).
