April 2004 News
At the recent AGM, the committee was re-elected for another year. The chairman, Treasurer, and Events’ Secretary reported on a busy and successful year. The Society had 77 members who had enjoyed a year of interesting talks and outings, and the chairman thanked the committee for their hard work, describing them as ‘round pegs in round holes’!

The AGM (at 20 minutes, surely the shortest on record!) Was followed by a fascinating talk by Ashley Cooper, a farmer and author from Gestingthorpe. As a young man he had gone travelling in India, and on his return was surprised to find how many of the old ‘farm boys’ he talked to had been there too. He started to research the connections between India and East Anglia and diccovered that in 1982 there were 70 local people who had some connection through the Forces or trade. He uncovered some strange stories and coincidences which he shared with the audience.
