Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury was the venue for our first outing of the summer. After an introductory talk by Liam, the Education Officer, on Gainsborough’s life and times, we were free to explore the beautiful old house and the paintings which are shown there. Because the painting techniques had been so well explained, our enjoyment of the portraits and landscapes was greatly enhanced. We also had the chance to admire the talents of other local artists in the Ground Floor exhibition of views of Sudbury. Many of us took the opportunity to stroll around the delightful garden and have afternoon tea in the cafe. A great start to our Summer programme!
Next outing is on Wednesday 4th July when we will visit Mildenhall for a River Walk and Church and Museum Visit.. We depart from the MSC Car park at 6pm. Look out for posters nearer the time or call Gillian (01440 820052) for more information.. |
