On Wednesday 3rd August there was an outing to the
Roman Villa at Gesingthorpe. The Villa was discovered, and the excavations
begun several years ago by the father of our host Ashley Cooper
on whose farm the Villa lies. Since that time many interesting artefacts
have been found at the site and a small museum has been started.
This not only displays artefacts found in the Villa but also a collection
of farm and domestic objects from more recent years. A most enjoyable
time was had by all who attended and Mr Cooper was warmly thanked
at the end of the visit. |
