After a lively Summer programme of outings, members met in the WI Hall for a talk by Tom Doig on Birth and Baptism in the 1800s. Mr Doig is a Lecturer for the WEA and has researched many topics relating to family history and the evening proved very useful for those currently investigating their family tree. There were some fascinating and heart-rending accounts of the very hard lives lived by our ancestors, but Mr Doig also shared some humorous - even scandalous- stories with us, and really brought the past to life.
The next meeting is on Tuesdat 17th October at 7.30pm in the WI Hall when Tony Redman will talk on ‘Myths and Superstitions in Buildings’. New members and visitors are very welcome. Please ring Dorothy (01440 820376) or Gillian (01440 820052) for more information.
Menus for the Christmas are now available. Please return them with( £10 deposit per person) to Gillian.
