News - February 2006

Our February meeting was held on the 27th. Mr Peter Fisk from Great Barton came along to give an illustrated talk on "Vegetables" which he has been growing for over 40 years. His garden was immaculate and if anyone in the audience spotted such a thing as a weed they must have had very good eyesight. The slides of Mr Fisk's vegetable garden certainly showed how dedicated a gardener he is and the pictures all looked as though they had come out of a gardening book. The rows were straight, the spaces exact, and all the vegetables looking good enough to eat. Perhaps if I garden for another 40 years my garden will look a tiny, weeny bit like Mr Fisk's. Mr Fisk was warmly thanked by Stan Bates for a very interesting talk.

Our garden society is having two coach outings this year - one to Wisley on Wednesday 10th May and one to Sandringham Flower Show on Wednesday, 26th July. If you are interested in joining either the Society or the coach outings, please ring Jackie on 01440 820108.

Our March meeting is on the 27th and is a talk on "Water Gardens" by Mr Geoffrey Peck. Our meetings are held in the W.I. Hall and begin at 7.30 p.m. New members are always welcome. If you are interested in any particular aspect of gardening or just like pottering around your garden, or even if you have no garden yourself, our meetings are interesting and informative and we are very welcoming.
