News - September 2007

Our September monthly meeting was a meeting with a difference!  Linda Draper from The Wallow Nursery, East Barton brought along lots of sturdy perennial herbaceous plants and demonstrated how to take nodal, inter nodal and heel cuttings from each of them.  Then it was our turn!!  Linda had brought along lots of plant pots, compost, dibbers, plastic bags and labels and we went home with lots of potential new plants for next year (hopefully).  It was great fun and I am sure it will encourage us all to have a go at taking cuttings from plants in our own gardens, which once rooted we can then pass around.

Our October meeting on the 15th is a talk entitled “Gardens and the National Trust – their history and evolvement” by Miss Veronica Bennett.  Members of the Local History Society are being invited to this talk, so hopefully there will be a large audience.  All our talks begin at 7.30 p.m. and are held in the W.I. Hall.  Cost £1 for member and £2 for non-members which include tea/coffee and biscuits.
