July and August Report
A large number of members have enjoyed two evening visits to gardens since we last had a meeting in June. The visits to both Denston Hall and Giffords Hall took place on lovely summer evenings and were very enjoyable. Many thanks to the owners for letting us walk around their lovely gardens and enjoying two very pleasant evenings.

In early July we had a coach outing to The Plantation Garden in Norwich and the Old Rectory Garden nearby. We were extremely lucky with the weather because all the way there it had rained, but the afternoon was fine and sunny and warm. The tennis at Wimbledon was abandoned for three hours on the same day because of heavy rain, so we obviously went in the right direction!! The coach was nearly full and everybody enjoyed looking at two very different gardens.

The Summer Show also has taken place, again on a beautiful summer's day. The hall looked splendid with all the entries and lots of people came round in the afternoon to look at the flowers, plants, vegetables, cookery and handicraft exhibits, as well as the beautiful flower arrangements. Thank you everyone who entered the show - without people taking part we cannot put on such a splendid show. It was nice to see so many vegetable entries this year, as these have been very low during recent years. well done to everybody and thank you very much (also to all the children from the school, who put on such a marvellous show every year - we do enjoy looking at the things that you have made and painted and written about).

Our meetings are due to start again on Monday 22nd September when there will be a talk on Old Fashioned Roses by Mrs Sue Russell of Mendlesham. This is in the W.I. Hall and begins at 7.30pm.

Our Annual General Meeting will be on Friday 14th November at the same time and venue as above, so please come along if you are at all interested. (After the meeting we have a cheese and wine get together). Looking forward to seeing you.

New members are always most welcome and the cost is small
