November - December 2004
On the 22nd November Mrs Frances Mount came to give us a talk entitled 'The Garden in Winter'. The talk was very interesting and entertaining and our members all seemed to enjoy it. Mrs Mount showed us some lovely slides of winter flowering plants, shrubs and trees and we all left the meeting with ideas of how to brighten up our winter gardens. She showed us that there is certainly no need to have a dull, grey garden in the winter, even if the weather is dull and grey.

There was quite a good turnout for our Annual General Meeting on Friday 25th November. The business side of the meeting was quickly over and Jackie Fieldsend was formerly voted in as Chairman of the Society. David Jones, our retiring Chairman and his wife Catherine were able to attend this meeting, and they were sincerely thanked for all their hard work in the past. Good health wishes and good luck wishes were also expressed to them both - they will both be missed when eventually they move to their new house in Hunstanton. Once the business of the evening was finished we all enjoyed our cheese and wine evening and were able to chat amongst ourselves. A very civilised ending to any AGM!!

Coach Trip to Gardener's World Live Horticultural Society
This is an advance notice of a coach trip from the M.S.C. car park to the N.E.C., Birmingham for the above event. Details are a bit sketchy, because I cannot at this stage get a definite price from the N.E.C. or even confirmation of the dates which are given on their web page. However, I believe that the total price will be between £20 - £25. The coach will leave Wickhambrook at 9am and will leave Birmingham at 5.30pm. The date which I am aiming for is Wednesday 15th June 2005.

More definite information will be available in the next Scene, but, in the meantime, if you want to put your name down for the trip please let me know.
