NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Meeting : 3rd August 2005
The Neighbourhood Watch meeting on Wednesday 3rd of August at the MSC Pavilion proved to be very interesting with information being available on the benefits of having a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in place. We also had a short talk about Crime Prevention and were shown the various items that are available to help keep us safe, such as shed alarms, personal alarms, identification markers, house alarms, locks, etc. A wide range of leaflets were also available with helpful hints and tips on many aspects of crime prevention.

The Neighbourhood Watch scheme for Wickhambrook was started at the meeting with various co-ordinators signing up to cover areas within the village and we are hoping to have another meeting in October to provide more information on how this will work and how it benefits us all. The idea for our village is to have small local schemes covering 30 or so houses so that the co-ordinator has a small area to manage rather than one person bearing the load.

Please look out for more information about the forthcoming meeting in the next What’s-On. We would like to make our Neighbourhood Watch scheme very successful and are looking for people to join the scheme or please just come along to find out what it is about. You may also remember a survey was undertaken a while ago and many of you responded. If you are still interested, we would be particularly pleased to see you as we are looking for co-ordinators and deputies to cover different areas of the village.
