The
Philosophy and Aims of Wickhambrook School
The happy and secure environment of our school allows the children
to reach their fullest potential. Our model for learning begins with
fostering the child’s curiosity and enquiry, and emphasises
the process and development of skills and concepts.
The school environment creates conditions for effective learning,
to stimulate and motivate the children to find out about themselves
and the world they live in. The children are valued and supported
in the process of growing up.
The actions of everyone in school have
the following aims:
To provide a safe, happy family
atmosphere conducive to learning in its widest context.
To offer children a broad and balanced curriculum
which offers each child a high standard of achievement academically,
physically, socially, morally and spiritually.
To establish within the children an awareness
of their place in the school, in the community, and in society
at large.
To encourage within each child a responsible
attitude towards themselves and towards others.
To encourage the development of confidence within
each child and to generate opportunities which will challenge
each one to positively extend their experiences.
“Education must nourish the diverse
talents of our children. It must widen their horizons; develop their
appetite for learning; enable them to live life to the full.”

EVENTS AND NEWS
At the time of writing I am almost
halfway through my first year as a
headteacher. The weeks have flown by,
with everyone being crammed full with
an assortment of tasks.
It has been a steep learning curve but
I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
While training I was told it was "the best
job in the world" and I certainly have no
complaints, however I haven't reached
this mid-way point without a lot of help.
The staff and governors at the school
have been fantastically supportive and
helpful. Many of them are the unsung
heroes who help me keep the school
running behind the scenes, stepping in,
without being asked or instinctively
supporting others and I would like to take
this opportunity to thank them publicly.
Their work often goes unnoticed but is
central to the success of the school.
I would also like to thank the parents.
I have received many words of
encouragement and support, and have
been welcomed warmly. The children though are the reason
why we are all here and at
Wickhambrook school the pupils are
wonderful. They have enthusiasm and
are proud of their school as they should
be. Wickhambrook School is a great
place to belong to and I feel very
privileged to be here. Georgina Ellis
