PROPOSED CHANGES TO Stansted Airspace
The Parish Council Clerk has leaflets and further information (including a DVD) about the proposed changes to Stansted Airspace. THIS CHANGE WILL AFFECT US and the consultation period lasts until the 22nd of May. Further details will be on the Wickhambrook website shortly. 10.00am - 12 noon in the Benefice Hall (next to Wickhambrook church).

 

Saturday 5th - Michael-the-Gentlemen’s-Barber

will be in the Pavilion lounge from 9am to midday.

 

Sunday 6th  - FARMERS MARKET
Local produce and products at the MSC from 9am to 1pm with the Centre Café offering teas, coffee and hot and cold refreshments from cheese and fruit scones for the discerning to irresistible hot bacon sandwiches for the hungry and indulgent.

 

Monday 7th - Memorial Social Centre : Trustees Meeting (changed from a management meeting).

7.30 in the Pavilion lounge. Tea/coffee and biscuits to start, then to business…. Fete plans to hear about. Some expenditure to approve. Project progress to please the ear. Important: New Hire Agreements to give some urgent thought to. These affect everyone, so please send a deputy if you cannot be there.

Rights of Way. Talk by Patrick Scrivens. 7.30pm in the W.I. Hall.

Saturday 12th W.I. QUIZ NIGHT

at the W.I. Hall. £4 including Ploughman’s Supper. This is a popular event and so please book early - £10 deposit per team of four.

 

Tuesday 15th - HISTORY SOCIETY
‘Lord Nelson’ talk by Robert Borridge. 7.30pm in the WI Hall

Saturday 19th - THE THEATRE ROYAL : comes to Wickhambrook with their latest touring play ‘ART’. “A remarkably wise, witty and intelligent comedy… ‘Art’ has touched a universal nerve” (The Times). Is a plain white canvas art? Three old friends become embroiled in an increasingly personal argument. Art won the 1997 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. Seating is limited and this performance will be publicised by a door-to-door leaflet drop throughout Wickhambrook. Monday 21st - HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
‘Flower Arranging with Fruit and Vegetables’ with Sally Swift. Start 7.30pm at the W.I. Hall. More details from Jackie on 820108.

Tuesday 22nd - STRICTLY COMES ... to Wickhambrook : First of the Ballroom Dance classes (for absolute beginners and ‘improvers’) which come to Wickhambrook for a trial 10-week term. Details in the Scene (which is free to members of the MSC Supporters Association) or from Elaine Simmons at Haverhill Learning Centre tel: 01440 712177. Only £56 for the whole course (£48 for the over-60s).

CHARITY DANCE : June 13th 
Tickets will be on sale from the 12 of May to the 6th of June for the next Charity Dance, featuring 60’s Band The Fortunes plus a disco. Doors open 7.30pm til Midnight at the MSC (over 18’s only). Tickets are £12 and will be on a first come, first served basis due to popular demand. Call Roz on 01440 820757, Lyn on 01440 820155 or Jan on 820481. Proceeds to St Nicholas Hospice.

THE SCENE : A far better source of information, detailing virtually all the community activities throughout the village, is the Wickhambrook Scene – a bimonthly village magazine which is delivered free to members of the MSC Supporters Association (currently to most houses in the village).
