February 2005 News
The topic for our February meeting was ‘Health Matters’, and Linda and Sally, the Practice Nurses from Wickhambrook Surgery, assured us that health mattered very much to them. They gave a comprehensive talk on the history of medical care in the village from the 18th century onwards, a brief insight into what they actually do each day and some tips for good health which we all vowed to put into practice. We are all very aware of how lucky we are to have such a caring team here and listening to the nurses filled us with confidence and hope for the future. Those who wished to had blood - pressure and blood sugar levels checked while others took part in a quiz to identify photographs of the village, organised by Janet Baldwin. Winner of the best health tip was Deirdre Smith ‘ A good laugh is better than medicine’.
