After a busy week of events
in the village, ending with the Carnival and Flower Show, the ladies
of Wickhambrook W I were very happy to sit back and enjoy a talk
called ‘Down with Drudgery’ at their July meeting.
Trevor Anderson’s talk and slides illustrated how science
in general, and chemistry in particular, have transformed our lives
since the 1950s. He had some thought provoking ideas on how we
will make plastic if/when oil runs out, and urged us to persuade
our children and grandchildren to make science their career.
Future meetings
Tuesday 8th August at 7.30pm in the WI Hall, when Lorraine Maguire
will talk on ‘The Golden Age of Picture Postcards’
All meetings commence at 7.30pm There is always a very warm welcome
for any ladies wishing to come and see what we are like with a view
to joining us, feel free to come and visit. |
