'Surprising Suffolk'
was the theme of the July meeting when Mr Jackson from Withersfield
took us on a tour of Suffolk from A to Z.
Our delegate to the AGM in June reported on the results of the resolutions
which, this year, had been discussed at the Albert Hall, London.
Thank you to all who helped and came to the teas on Carnival Day.
It was a very hot day but quite cool in the hall where drinks were
very popular.
There was no meeting in the Hall in August but about 25 members went
to Sainsburys, Bury St Edmunds. There, Jenny Young, the Food Advisor
met us and gave an impressive demonstration of recipes taken from
the current Sainsbury magazine. It was one of the hottest evenings
of the summer but some of us had taken cardigans - well we all know
how cold supermarkets are! We must, however, have been in the warmest
room in the store, but fans and unlimited drinks kept us cool. |
Jenny admitted afterwards that it was
the hottest conditions she had ever worked in but the results were
superb and tasty from seared tuna on a bed of fried vegetables to
meringue roulade, not to mention the chocolate muffin and cherry trifle
and they were but a few of the samples!
Many wanted to know the time of the next walk so as not to feel too
guilty. The walking club has met every week, in spite of hot weather.
Details are always on the notice board.
